What’s the Secret Sauce to Your Success?

graduate with diplomaHave you ever been somewhere and seen a person whom you perceived as successful? Have you wondered what the secret was to a person’s success? I have, and I always come to the same conclusion—it must be the secret sauce. The Colonel had it. Even Midas had it. Oprah has it. This year’s American Idol winner has it. But what is the secret sauce, you ask? I believe every person has his or her own secret sauce. Allow me to share what I garner as the secret sauce of the Colonel, Midas, and Oprah. Perhaps it is:

• A dash of Perseverance
• A pinch of Tenacity
• Self-awareness (to taste)
• Self-confidence (to desired consistency)
• 1 tsp. Accountability
• 1 tbsp. Reliability
• 1/4 cup of Knowledge
• 1/2 cup of Energy
• 3/4 cup of Focus
• 1 cup of Support
• 1 lb. of Innovation or Ingenuity

Mix the ingredients together. The order is optional. And there you have it—the secret sauce. Boosting confidence gives you an increased capability to take on uncharted territory knowing you have the skills to succeed. Through learning you can move from awareness to knowledge, skill and, ultimately, mastery. Holding ourselves accountable to personal and professional growth goals and working through the interpersonal dynamics—we each create our own secret sauce. So I ask you, what’s the secret sauce to your success?

Greer,

Great recipe for success. I believe most people complicate success. You see, our minds are so complexed, it's hard to look at the obvious. We tend to look for some deep secrets. If it is so easy, it must not be it. As a result, most people spend their lifetime looking for THE secret to success.

Unfortunately, many of the gurus out there claim the have the secret. There is even a movie on how to attract what you want called the secret. The reality is, there is no secret.

If in fact there is one, it's hard work, the right knowledge, focus and the belief that what is possible for one if possible for many. Simply put, believe it's possible.

For example, the secret to wealth is simple.
1- Work Hard... Harder than most
2- Spend less
3- Save more

Yet, there are so many books and courses on how to acquire wealth. Why? Because people don't need it if it's that simple. They want 300 pages of jargon in a book.

Thanks Greer.

Good list. I’d also add: 1) Mindset (quantity to a least match the desired result, preferably more) 2) Self mastery (measure: generous spoonful of all your ingredient areas).

Why? Because mindset will drive the overall intention, and the journey of self mastery will continually increase each area in and of its self. The results will exponential. Excellent post!
